Synopsis:
A working day comes to an end, people rush to the tram. An autumn day in the outskirts of Vienna. The rhythm of traffic and the many voices that dominate the urban space. Nothing unusual. Or is it? A table tennis game without players. A flautist in a dark underpass, fighting against the traffic noise. City dwellers dance through the room. A trumpet appears from the bushes in a park and a saxophone approaches the unknown observer. Distant sounds of a recorder. The young people answer “Allahu Akbar” (“God is great”). Images freeze, the music demands our full attention. The city noises disappear, the sound space is opened up. Musicians come closer and condense the soundscape around us. Transforming sounds, people and animals become instruments, instruments become park residents. Irritating, a dream? But then the image takes over and assures us that everything was just an illusion. A market in the morning, the stalls are opening, there is a lot of activity. And yet, suddenly castanets!? They give us an idea that shared reality is a thing...
